2017 St. Paul Regional Piping Qualifier Order of Play

The Order of Play for soloists has been determined for the St. Paul Regional Solo Piping Qualifier in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 21, 2017.

2017 Kansas City Regional Piping Solos Results

The 2017 Kansas City Regional Piping Solos have been completed, and the results are below:


Grade 1:

1st-Caleb Thibodeau, 2nd-Steven MacDonald, 3rd-Laureano Thomas-Sanchez


Grade 2:

1st-Jack O'Connell, 2nd-Filemon Tan, 3rd-Charles Morris


Grade 3:

1st-Thomas Sapleton, 2nd-Linda Robertson, 3rd-Hayden Faucett


Grade 4 Senior:

1st-Matthew Morrison, 2nd-Kristina Rodgers


Grade 4 Junior:

1st-Mark MacPhee, 2nd-Ryan Lett


These individuals are eligible to compete in the Terry McHugh Memorial Solo Piping Contest, taking place on April 1, 2017 in Palatine, IL, and have already been enrolled.


2017 Kansas City G4/Novice Regional Order of Play

2017 MWPBA Regional Solos open

A quick reminder that entries are open for all Regional Solo Qualifiers (except Kansas City, which has past its deadline) for pipers only:

  • Sat Jan 21 at St. Paul, MN (Deadline Sun Jan 08)
  • Sat Feb 11 at Alma, MI (Deadline Sun Jan 29)
  • Sat Feb 18 at Milwaukee, WI (Deadline Sun Feb 5)
  • Sat Feb 25 at Lexington, KY (Deadline Sun Feb 12)


These contests are open to all Amateur Grades in light music piping. The top 3 available qualifiers in each GRADE (not event) will qualify to play at the Terry McHugh Memorial Solo Piping Event to be held in Palatine, IL on April 1, 2017.   This is a change from prior years, and should ensure a competitive contest for each grade.


The Pipe Major Ian Swinton Open - 2017

The MWPBA is pleased to announce that The Pipe Major Ian Swinton Open Professional Solo Piping Contest date and registration are now available. Registration is $25.00 (USD), and open to all professional pipers.The event will be held on April 1 at the Presbyterian Church of Palatine, in Palatine, IL.  The church is located at 800 E. Palatine Rd., Palatine, IL, and is a short distance from O'Hare airport.

2017 Band and Solo Registration forms now available

Band and solo registration forms for the 2017 season are now available, along with regrade petition forms.

The Regional Solo Form is also now open, but only for the Winter Storm Grade 4 (Junior & Senior) Piping Events only!  If you are in Grade 3 or higher, please register through the Winter Storm website.  Other Regional Piping Events will be added as the locations and dates are determined.

Please note that to compete at Winter Storm, all entrants must be Association members for 2017 (MWPBA, or otherwise).
